Why Drinking Water is a Crucial Factor in Losing Weight

by

Many assume that drinking a ton of water will cause you to gain weight or bloat. Some women will even reduce their daily water intake to mitigate this. However, this isn’t a good idea.

Drinking water is vital to weightloss. If you’re wondering how to lose weight while maintaining your water intake we’ve got you covered!

How Much Water to Drink to Lose Weight: The Breakdown

Here’s the thing: losing 20 to 45 pounds of fat in 6 weeks requires hydration. Our programs focus on drinking water without all the added shakes, pills, powders, calorie counting, starvation, and incessant exercise. Getting water into your daily routine is the key to losing weight. Let’s first break down why water is essential.

Water is fantastic for two reasons. Firstly, it helps you metabolize fat. Secondly, you’ll feel more hungry and lethargic if you’re chronically dehydrated. Meaning you’ll have more cravings and are more likely to eat junk foods.

A vast majority of the women we work with have high-stress jobs. When you have a fast-paced daily life, it’s more challenging to remember to get your daily water in. Luckily, we’ve broken down two top tips for remembering to stay hydrated without needing a fancy tracking app.

How Much Water to Drink to Lose Weight Calculator

If you’re not accustomed to drinking water, a “how much water to drink to lose weight” calculator doesn’t matter. What matters is getting water into your daily routine. From there, you can use a calculator to refine your daily habit. So, what are the top two tips for staying hydrated? The first is a mindset shift, and the second is a logistical shift.

Change Your Mindset

How often have you said things like you hate water, prefer soda, or need flavor? When we tell ourselves we hate water or have difficulty drinking water, we create that experience.

Constantly telling yourself that you don’t like drinking water creates a challenging experience. Why? Because your mindset is that of someone who can’t drink water. Shifting this mindset will be key for pivoting your relationship with water.

However, you can’t trick your brain into loving something it doesn’t. You can’t declare that you now love water and expect yourself to stay hydrated easily. Instead, you’ll want to attach a “why” to the end of your statement.

For example, you can say, “I love drinking water for the health benefits.” In this way, you’re telling your brain why drinking water is on your radar and how it’ll help you. Here are more affirmations you can try attaching to the end of your statement:

I love drinking water because…

  • It helps me release fat
  • It gives me glowing skin
  • It makes my hair shine
  • It strengthens my nail health

Remember that telling your brain why you love drinking water will shift your mindset and help you start loving it. If you think and say you’re a water drinker, you’ll become one!

Habit Stacking

From a logistical standpoint, you don’t need to use tracking tricks to remember to stay hydrated. From working with thousands of women, we’ve found that habit stacking is the easiest way to stay hydrated.

A habit stack occurs when you take a habit you already have and stack the new habit on top of it. In this case, your new habit will be drinking water. This is helpful because it limits the time you need to think about drinking water.

Reflect on the routines you already have. If you have a morning coffee or yoga ritual, consider stacking with those. For example, you must have three glasses of water before you drink your morning coffee. Do the same for your lunch and dinner routines.

Habit stacking is a no-brainer. Remember that if you’re not drinking water, you don’t need to worry about when and how the best way to drink water is. You just need to start!
